Was just wondering what you guys thought? I've tried measuring it myself, but i get really different scores everytime i do it....And i like to think it would make P&Y, but if i get it measured and it falls short, i'd rather just not know....I know for sure the inside spread is 15", tip to tip is 10" G2's are 8" and G3's are 7"....Any ideas?

Well I'm headed to Frankfort next week for 3 days of fishing. This will be my first time fishing the pier there in almost 20 years. I normally just soak spawn on the bottom but this time I would like to try something different. I've noticed a number of guys talking about shrimp??? I have a few questions about fishing shrimp:

Raw or cooked?
Shell on or off?
Do you fish it on the bottom?
The big question is will shrimp work for salmon and steelhead?

Sorry for all the questions but I've never fished with shrimp or saw anyone fish with them. To tell you the truth this will be the second time that I've salmon fished in almost 20 years and I'm already having trouble sleeping cause I'm so stoked!!!

I will post a report when I get back on 9/18.

Thanks for any help.

I have a wind question related to the piers on the east side of the state. I know that on the west side an east wind will blow the warm water out and cause the cool water to take its place. Wouldn't the opposite be true of the east side of the state? I know that experienced east side pier fishermen tell me an east wind is best, I assuming that it blows the bait fish in. But wouldn't a continous west wind cause the warm water to be blown out? I enjoy fishing the west side, mostly because it is way better fishing. But the east side is closer, and there has to be some kings left in that lake.

While at work today...

I posted this on the Average Joe Fisherman blog (averagejoefisherman.blogspot.com) a while ago and thought I would share. =)

While at work today I received a call from a co-worker. It was a welcomed reprieve from working for the man. He told me that he had “somehow” fallen into a website offering guide services which is odd because he doesn’t fish. He said I “HAD TO” check it out. I told him that while I believe guides offer a valuable service, I am of the mind to do the research myself and try things on my own, which in hindsight is probably why I do not catch very many trout. He told me to just go to the picture section of the website because I would not believe the pictures of the fish. Well, I have looked at the pictures, several times, and I have yet to see any fish in these pictures. =) Check it out for yourself here – www.flygal.ca/flygalgallery.html

In all seriousness, these are clearly talented women. And I am sure they can out-fish me any day of the week. Nice to see they are doing what they are passionate about, while I am still working for the man! =(

It kind of reminds me of “Women in Waders” which, much like guides, provide a valuable service also. It helps you keep track of the day... it's a calendar. If you are not familiar with Women in Waders you can read more about them here - http://www.womeninwaders.com/.
