Pink Thing
Good Day,
This came as the result of a conversation with a guide and fly shop owner... he wanted a "bubblegum" pink streamer for salmon. Now to send him a sample... ;-)

Head
QUOTE=Fishalot;3251622]What is the head made out of on that fly?[/QUOTE]
Good Day,
Thanks for the comments. The head... I developed this technique as I hate the mess associated with deer hair heads. You need three things... thin synthetic hair (in this case Water Silk from the Fly Tyers Dungeon), plasti-dip or Softex and an o-ring. Tie the material on the hook as you would if stacking deer hair. A clump on top of the hook and one on the underside of the hook (In this case about half the width of a pencil.) Small flies may need only two clumps, this fly (size 1/0 hook) needs four clumps. The front clump should be tied in about one hook eye from the hook eye with half toward rear of hook and the other half out past the hook eye. Tie off with whip finish. Fold the material that is pointing over the hook eye back and slide o-ring into place. Apply at least two coats of clear plast-dip, allowing to dry between coats. If needed, trim rear of head to make fibers even.
Plasti-dip:

It is just like Softex, but half the price generally.

Wow, that fly looks great! I could see it being good for kings, but I think the steelhead might even like it better!
